The journey
The E40 runs west all the way to Bruges. Several shopping streets in the centre close to cars on Saturday afternoons and on the first Sunday of the month, with camera enforcement, so give the driver your hotel's exact address.
Arriving at Brussels Airport
Brussels Airport is at Zaventem, north-east of the city in Flemish Brabant. It has one central terminal building with two piers: Pier A for Schengen flights and Pier B for non-Schengen and long-haul flights. Everyone comes out into the same arrivals hall on level 0 after baggage reclaim, and the railway station is below it on level -1. Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with your name on a sign.
- There is one arrivals hall for all flights, so there is no terminal to choose. The Brussels Airport app shows your baggage belt once you land.
- Make sure you have booked from Brussels Airport (BRU), not Charleroi (CRL). Some airlines sell Charleroi as 'Brussels South', but it is a separate airport on the far side of Brussels.
- Brussels' central pentagon has large pedestrian and low-traffic areas around the Grand-Place. Give the driver your hotel's exact address so they can take the right side street.
How long it really takes
Maps says 74 minutes. That is the driving. Door to door from the moment you land is a different number, and it is the one worth planning around.
Realistically, 104 to 149 minutes after landing. If someone is waiting for you, that is the number to give them.
When to book
Booking early costs the same as booking late — the price does not move. What moves is whether there is a car left.
Cancellation is free until 24 hours before, so booking early costs you nothing if the plan changes.

How much luggage can I take?
One suitcase and one piece of hand luggage per passenger is included. Skis or a snowboard, a golf bag, a surfboard or a bicycle: add them when you book, so a vehicle with room for them is sent (there is a small charge, shown before you pay). An unusual number of ordinary bags: tell us in the notes.
Can I get a child seat?
Yes. Choose it when you book: infant seat (0–12 months), child seat (1–4 years) or booster seat (4–12 years). There is a small charge per seat, shown before you pay. Where the law requires a child seat, travelling without one is not possible.
Who will drive me?
A licensed local transport company that works with Airportlink. We check its operating licence and insurance before it can take bookings, and again when they expire. The day before, you receive the driver's name, phone number and vehicle.
Can I book the return from Bruges to the airport?
Yes. Add the return when you book, or book it on its own later, also at a fixed price. For pick-ups away from the airport the driver waits 15 minutes free from the booked time.
When do I pay?
When you book, or — on many transfers — later: you book without paying, your card is stored securely with Stripe and charged 48 hours before pick-up. You are told the exact amount and date when you book.
