Mangal das Garças, Belém's best-known park, is on the bank of the Rio Guamá in Cidade Velha, on Rua Carneiro da Rocha, with a lookout over the city.

Arriving at Belém Airport

Val de Cans is Belém's international airport and the main gateway for visitors to the city. It is close to the centre, so the historic districts of Campina, Cidade Velha and Nazaré and the Umarizal and Batista Campos hotel areas are short transfers. The meeting point is the arrivals exit.

• The Círio de Nazaré, on the second Sunday of October, draws more than two million people to central Belém; book hotels and transfers months ahead for that weekend.
• Rain is a near-daily constant in Belém, even on hot days; keep an umbrella in your hand luggage.

Can I get a child seat?

Tell us in the booking notes, with the child's age, and we pass it to the driver. Where the law requires a child seat, travelling without one is not possible.

Who will drive me?

A licensed local transport company that works with Airportlink. We check its operating licence and insurance before it can take bookings, and again when they expire. The day before, you receive the driver's name, phone number and vehicle.

Can I book the return from Mangal das Garças to the airport?
