The journey

The Rodovia Santos Dumont (SP-075) runs from the airport straight into Campinas, ending at Avenida Prestes Maia. The centre has the city's cheapest hotels and the pedestrian-only calçadão.

Arriving at Campinas Viracopos Airport

Viracopos is in Campinas, southwest of the city centre and well outside São Paulo, at km 66 of the Rodovia Santos Dumont (SP-075). It is Azul's main hub and one of Brazil's biggest cargo airports. All passenger flights use one terminal, with arrivals on the ground floor.

• Arrivals are on the ground floor of the single passenger terminal; international passengers clear border control before reaching it.
• Trips to São Paulo use the Bandeirantes or the Anhanguera, and city traffic at the São Paulo end is what makes the time uncertain.

How long it really takes

Maps says 22 minutes. That is the driving. Door to door from the moment you land is a different number, and it is the one worth planning around.

Realistically, 52 to 97 minutes after landing. If someone is waiting for you, that is the number to give them.

When to book

Booking early costs the same as booking late — the price does not move. What moves is whether there is a car left.

Cancellation is free until 24 hours before, so booking early costs you nothing if the plan changes.

How long does it take to get from Campinas Airport to Campinas City Centre?

About 22 minutes for the 19.3 km, outside peak traffic. Your driver knows the route and follows the flight, so a delayed landing moves the pick-up rather than costing you the transfer.

What happens if my flight is late?

How much luggage can I take?

One suitcase and one piece of hand luggage per passenger is included. Skis, golf clubs, bicycles or an unusual number of bags: tell us in the notes when you book, so a vehicle with room for them is sent.

Can I get a child seat?

Tell us in the booking notes, with the child's age, and we pass it to the driver. Where the law requires a child seat, travelling without one is not possible.

Who will drive me?

A licensed local transport company that works with Airportlink. We check its operating licence and insurance before it can take bookings, and again when they expire. The day before, you receive the driver's name, phone number and vehicle.

Can I book the return from Campinas City Centre to the airport?

Yes. Add the return when you book, or book it on its own later, also at a fixed price. For pick-ups away from the airport the driver waits 15 minutes free from the booked time.

When do I pay?

When you book, or — on many transfers — later: you book without paying, your card is stored securely with Stripe and charged 48 hours before pick-up. You are told the exact amount and date when you book.
