The journey

Barra da Lagoa sits where the lagoon meets the sea, just south of Praia do Moçambique, with two beaches and the Projeto Tamar visitor centre. It is reached through Lagoa da Conceição.

Arriving at Florianópolis Airport

Florianópolis has flown from a new terminal since 1 October 2019, built by Zurich Airport Brasil and about four times the size of the old one. It sits in the south of Santa Catarina Island, so the south-island beaches are close while the northern beaches are at the far end of the island. Arrivals is on the ground floor, which is where the meeting point is.

• Arrivals is on the ground floor and check-in and departures are upstairs. The taxi rank is on the ground floor too, across the Boulevard 14/32 area.
• New Year week is the busiest of the year on the island's roads, with SC-401 traffic to the northern beaches rising sharply. Allow extra margin for a return flight.

How long it really takes

Maps says 35 minutes. That is the driving. Door to door from the moment you land is a different number, and it is the one worth planning around.

Realistically, 65 to 110 minutes after landing. If someone is waiting for you, that is the number to give them.

When to book

Booking early costs the same as booking late — the price does not move. What moves is whether there is a car left.

Cancellation is free until 24 hours before, so booking early costs you nothing if the plan changes.

How long does it take to get from Florianópolis Airport to Barra da Lagoa?

How much luggage can I take?

One suitcase and one piece of hand luggage per passenger is included. Skis, golf clubs, bicycles or an unusual number of bags: tell us in the notes when you book, so a vehicle with room for them is sent.

Can I get a child seat?

Tell us in the booking notes, with the child's age, and we pass it to the driver. Where the law requires a child seat, travelling without one is not possible.

Who will drive me?

A licensed local transport company that works with Airportlink. We check its operating licence and insurance before it can take bookings, and again when they expire. The day before, you receive the driver's name, phone number and vehicle.

Can I book the return from Barra da Lagoa to the airport?

Yes. Add the return when you book, or book it on its own later, also at a fixed price. For pick-ups away from the airport the driver waits 15 minutes free from the booked time.

When do I pay?
