The journey
Novo Hamburgo is at the end of the Trensurb line and on the BR-116. It is also where the recommended Gramado route via Taquara leaves the BR-116 for the RS-239.
Arriving at Porto Alegre Airport
Salgado Filho is inside the city, close to the centre, and uses a single passenger terminal, Terminal 1. It closed in May 2024 because of the Rio Grande do Sul floods and reopened gradually from October 2024, with a repaved runway and full operations by December 2024. Arrivals are on the first floor, and your driver meets you there.
- The Aeromóvel people-mover between the terminal and the Trensurb Aeroporto station has been out of service since the May 2024 floods; reconstruction only began in September 2026.
- The Serra Gaúcha and the northern beaches are long transfers. Give the full hotel address rather than just the town name.
How long it really takes
Maps says 45 minutes. That is the driving. Door to door from the moment you land is a different number, and it is the one worth planning around.
Realistically, 75 to 120 minutes after landing. If someone is waiting for you, that is the number to give them.
When to book
Booking early costs the same as booking late — the price does not move. What moves is whether there is a car left.
Cancellation is free until 24 hours before, so booking early costs you nothing if the plan changes.

One suitcase and one piece of hand luggage per passenger is included. Skis, golf clubs, bicycles or an unusual number of bags: tell us in the notes when you book, so a vehicle with room for them is sent.
Can I get a child seat?
Tell us in the booking notes, with the child's age, and we pass it to the driver. Where the law requires a child seat, travelling without one is not possible.
Who will drive me?
A licensed local transport company that works with Airportlink. We check its operating licence and insurance before it can take bookings, and again when they expire. The day before, you receive the driver's name, phone number and vehicle.
Can I book the return from Novo Hamburgo to the airport?
Yes. Add the return when you book, or book it on its own later, also at a fixed price. For pick-ups away from the airport the driver waits 15 minutes free from the booked time.
When do I pay?
