The journey
Cruise ships dock at Píer Mauá, in former port warehouses of the revitalised Porto Maravilha waterfront, beside the Museum of Tomorrow and the MAR art museum. Give your ship and embarkation time so the driver heads for the right drop-off.
Arriving at Rio de Janeiro Galeão Airport
Galeão (Tom Jobim) is Rio's international airport, on Ilha do Governador north of the city centre. The Linha Vermelha expressway is the main road into the city and to the South Zone beaches.
- Give your hotel name and street, not just the neighbourhood — Copacabana and Ipanema hotels are spread along many blocks behind the beach.
- Barra is reached via the Linha Amarela; the Linha Vermelha leads towards Centro and, through the Rebouças Tunnel, to the Lagoa and the South Zone.
How long it really takes
Maps says 22 minutes. That is the driving. Door to door from the moment you land is a different number, and it is the one worth planning around.
Realistically, 52 to 97 minutes after landing. If someone is waiting for you, that is the number to give them.
When to book
Booking early costs the same as booking late — the price does not move. What moves is whether there is a car left.
Cancellation is free until 24 hours before, so booking early costs you nothing if the plan changes.

Can I get a child seat?
Tell us in the booking notes, with the child's age, and we pass it to the driver. Where the law requires a child seat, travelling without one is not possible.
Who will drive me?
A licensed local transport company that works with Airportlink. We check its operating licence and insurance before it can take bookings, and again when they expire. The day before, you receive the driver's name, phone number and vehicle.
Can I book the return from Píer Mauá Cruise Terminal to the airport?
