What is included

The journey

Pituba is a commercial and residential neighbourhood on the Atlantic side, roughly halfway between the airport and the old centre. Much of its beach is unsafe for swimming, except the central stretch by the fishing boats.

Arriving at Salvador Airport

Salvador's airport is operated by VINCI Airports and sits north of the city, on the border with Lauro de Freitas, so the historic centre and Barra are a long city drive away. There is one passenger terminal with two piers, and arrivals, baggage reclaim and taxi ranks are all on the ground floor. The coast road north, the BA-099 (Estrada do Coco and then the Linha Verde), starts close to the airport, so Praia do Forte and the north-coast resorts can be reached without crossing the city.

How long it really takes

Maps says 30 minutes. That is the driving. Door to door from the moment you land is a different number, and it is the one worth planning around.

1
Taxi and disembark10–15 min
2
Passport controlNone inside Schengen. 15–45 min from outside it.
3
Baggage reclaim10–25 min with hold luggage
4
Finding your driver2–5 min. Your name on a sign.
5
The drive30 min

Realistically, 60 to 105 minutes after landing. If someone is waiting for you, that is the number to give them.

When to book

Booking early costs the same as booking late — the price does not move. What moves is whether there is a car left.

A week aheadJuly, August, Fridays and Saturdays. The busiest arrivals of the year.
As soon as you have the flightGroups of five or more. Vans and minibuses go first, always.
Two or three daysLanding between 23:00 and 06:00. Fewer drivers are working.
The day before is fineEverything else. The same morning usually works too.

Cancellation is free until 24 hours before, so booking early costs you nothing if the plan changes.

Before you land

One terminal, arrivals on the ground floorAll flights use the same terminal. Arrivals, baggage reclaim, car rental and taxis are on the ground floor, where your driver waits with your name.
The bamboo roadThe access road to the terminal runs through a tunnel of bamboo, one of the best-known sights in Salvador. It is the first thing you see on the way into the city.
North coast without crossing the cityThe airport is on the Lauro de Freitas border, and the BA-099 coast road starts nearby. Arembepe, Guarajuba, Praia do Forte, Imbassaí and Costa do Sauípe are all reached on this road.
Islands and the south coast involve a boatMorro de São Paulo, Itaparica and Barra Grande all involve a water crossing: a catamaran from the Terminal Marítimo, the São Joaquim ferry to Bom Despacho, or a boat from Valença or Camamu. Give the driver the exact terminal.

FAQ

How long does it take to get from Salvador Airport to Pituba?

About 30 minutes for the 24.4 km, outside peak traffic. Your driver knows the route and follows the flight, so a delayed landing moves the pick-up rather than costing you the transfer.

How much is a transfer from Salvador Airport to Pituba?

From R$146.57 for up to four passengers, and R$245.99 for a group of five or six in a van. The price is fixed when you book — tolls and taxes included, nothing added at the end.

What happens if my flight is late?

We track the flight number you give us. The driver waits and adjusts to the actual landing time, with 60 minutes of free waiting after the plane touches down.

Where do I meet the driver at Salvador Airport?

In the arrivals hall after you clear customs. The day before your trip we send you the driver's name, phone number and vehicle, and they contact you with the exact spot.

Can I cancel?

Free up to 24 hours before pick-up, refunded in full. On many routes you can also book without paying and we only charge the card 48 hours before you travel.

Is the transfer private or shared?

Private. The vehicle is for your group only: no other passengers and no other stops on the way to Pituba.

Is the price per person or per vehicle?

Per vehicle. One price covers everyone in it, up to the seats of the vehicle you choose.

Which car will I get?

It depends on the size of your group. Sedan: Skoda Superb, Toyota Camry or similar; Premium Sedan: Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5 Series or similar; Van: Mercedes Vito, VW Caravelle or similar; Large Van: Mercedes V-Class, Ford Tourneo or similar; Minibus 12: Mercedes Sprinter or similar · or 2 vans; Minibus 16: Mercedes Sprinter or similar · or 2 vans. These are examples: we do not guarantee a particular make or model, but we do guarantee enough seats and enough space for normal luggage.

How much luggage can I take?

One suitcase and one piece of hand luggage per passenger is included. Skis, golf clubs, bicycles or an unusual number of bags: tell us in the notes when you book, so a vehicle with room for them is sent.

Can I get a child seat?

Tell us in the booking notes, with the child's age, and we pass it to the driver. Where the law requires a child seat, travelling without one is not possible.

Who will drive me?

A licensed local transport company that works with Airportlink. We check its operating licence and insurance before it can take bookings, and again when they expire. The day before, you receive the driver's name, phone number and vehicle.

Can I book the return from Pituba to the airport?

Yes. Add the return when you book, or book it on its own later, also at a fixed price. For pick-ups away from the airport the driver waits 15 minutes free from the booked time.

When do I pay?

When you book, or — on many transfers — later: you book without paying, your card is stored securely with Stripe and charged 48 hours before pick-up. You are told the exact amount and date when you book.

Can I contact you before I travel?

Yes. Message us on WhatsApp at +1 951 579 7412 — for a price, a change to your booking or anything about the trip — or email support@airportlink.app.
