The journey
North up the Istrian Y motorway and then down to the coast. Rovinj's old town is pedestrian-only, and the nearest car parks are at Valdibora, at the edge of the old town, which fill up in summer. Many hotels in and around the old town have restricted vehicle access, so ask yours in advance where the driver should stop for luggage.
Arriving at Pula Airport
Pula Airport is in the countryside north-east of Pula, in the municipality of Ližnjan, at the southern end of Istria. There is one terminal, with separate halls for domestic and international arrivals, and the pick-up area is directly in front of the building. Most international flights are seasonal and stop over the winter, so in summer the small terminal can be busy when several flights land together. Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with your name.
- There is one terminal, so there is only one building to look for; just make sure you come out of the international arrivals hall if you have flown in from abroad.
- Most of Istria's resorts are on the Istrian Y motorway, which runs up the west coast from Pula towards Umag and branches at Kanfanar towards Rijeka. The price is fixed, so tolls and summer traffic change the time, not what you pay.
- The airport's own shuttle bus only goes to Pula's main bus station and leaves about half an hour after each landing. If you are staying anywhere else in Istria, a car straight to the door saves the change.
How long it really takes
Maps says 42 minutes. That is the driving. Door to door from the moment you land is a different number, and it is the one worth planning around.
Realistically, 72 to 117 minutes after landing. If someone is waiting for you, that is the number to give them.
When to book
Booking early costs the same as booking late — the price does not move. What moves is whether there is a car left.
Cancellation is free until 24 hours before, so booking early costs you nothing if the plan changes.

How much luggage can I take?
One suitcase and one piece of hand luggage per passenger is included. Skis or a snowboard, a golf bag, a surfboard or a bicycle: add them when you book, so a vehicle with room for them is sent (there is a small charge, shown before you pay). An unusual number of ordinary bags: tell us in the notes.
Can I get a child seat?
Yes. Choose it when you book: infant seat (0–12 months), child seat (1–4 years) or booster seat (4–12 years). There is a small charge per seat, shown before you pay. Where the law requires a child seat, travelling without one is not possible.
Who will drive me?
A licensed local transport company that works with Airportlink. We check its operating licence and insurance before it can take bookings, and again when they expire. The day before, you receive the driver's name, phone number and vehicle.
Can I book the return from Rovinj to the airport?
Yes. Add the return when you book, or book it on its own later, also at a fixed price. For pick-ups away from the airport the driver waits 15 minutes free from the booked time.
When do I pay?
When you book, or — on many transfers — later: you book without paying, your card is stored securely with Stripe and charged 48 hours before pick-up. You are told the exact amount and date when you book.
