The journey
Punat is just south of Krk town, on a sheltered bay with a large marina. Many of its apartments and small hotels have their own parking. Tell the driver if you are heading for the marina rather than a hotel.
Arriving at Rijeka Airport
Rijeka Airport is not in Rijeka but on the island of Krk, near Omišalj, at the northern end of the island. Rijeka is on the mainland across the Krk Bridge. There is a single terminal and no jet bridges, so you walk or are bussed from the aircraft. Most flights are seasonal summer services, and the terminal is quiet the rest of the year. Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with your name.
- The airport is on Krk, so every trip to the mainland, including Rijeka and Opatija, starts by crossing the Krk Bridge. The bridge has been toll-free since June 2020.
- The official airport shuttle runs to a timetable to Jelačić Square in Rijeka, with stops in Omišalj and Kraljevica. Other bus companies selling 'airport' tickets can only drop at a crossroads about two kilometres from the terminal.
- Most routes here are summer-only. If you are flying out of season, check the flight is operating before booking.
How long it really takes
Maps says 32 minutes. That is the driving. Door to door from the moment you land is a different number, and it is the one worth planning around.
Realistically, 62 to 107 minutes after landing. If someone is waiting for you, that is the number to give them.
When to book
Booking early costs the same as booking late — the price does not move. What moves is whether there is a car left.
Cancellation is free until 24 hours before, so booking early costs you nothing if the plan changes.

How much luggage can I take?
One suitcase and one piece of hand luggage per passenger is included. Skis or a snowboard, a golf bag, a surfboard or a bicycle: add them when you book, so a vehicle with room for them is sent (there is a small charge, shown before you pay). An unusual number of ordinary bags: tell us in the notes.
Can I get a child seat?
Yes. Choose it when you book: infant seat (0–12 months), child seat (1–4 years) or booster seat (4–12 years). There is a small charge per seat, shown before you pay. Where the law requires a child seat, travelling without one is not possible.
Who will drive me?
A licensed local transport company that works with Airportlink. We check its operating licence and insurance before it can take bookings, and again when they expire. The day before, you receive the driver's name, phone number and vehicle.
Can I book the return from Punat to the airport?
Yes. Add the return when you book, or book it on its own later, also at a fixed price. For pick-ups away from the airport the driver waits 15 minutes free from the booked time.
When do I pay?
When you book, or — on many transfers — later: you book without paying, your card is stored securely with Stripe and charged 48 hours before pick-up. You are told the exact amount and date when you book.
