The journey
The main bus station is east of the centre, and the drive from the airport does not go through the city centre. It is where intercity and international coaches leave from, including those to the coast.
Arriving at Zagreb Airport
Zagreb Airport is at Velika Gorica, south-east of the capital. Everything is in one terminal, opened in 2017. Arrivals is on the ground floor, with departures upstairs. Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with your name.
- The airport is open around the clock, so late-night and early-morning arrivals are normal here.
- Central Zagreb has little parking, and much of it is paid. If you are staying in the Lower Town or near Ban Jelačić Square, give the driver the hotel name so they can stop at the door rather than look for a space.
- The Upper Town is all cobbles, steps and steep lanes. If you are staying up there, tell the driver the exact address.
How long it really takes
Maps says 19 minutes. That is the driving. Door to door from the moment you land is a different number, and it is the one worth planning around.
Realistically, 49 to 94 minutes after landing. If someone is waiting for you, that is the number to give them.
When to book
Booking early costs the same as booking late — the price does not move. What moves is whether there is a car left.
Cancellation is free until 24 hours before, so booking early costs you nothing if the plan changes.

How much luggage can I take?
One suitcase and one piece of hand luggage per passenger is included. Skis or a snowboard, a golf bag, a surfboard or a bicycle: add them when you book, so a vehicle with room for them is sent (there is a small charge, shown before you pay). An unusual number of ordinary bags: tell us in the notes.
Can I get a child seat?
Yes. Choose it when you book: infant seat (0–12 months), child seat (1–4 years) or booster seat (4–12 years). There is a small charge per seat, shown before you pay. Where the law requires a child seat, travelling without one is not possible.
Who will drive me?
A licensed local transport company that works with Airportlink. We check its operating licence and insurance before it can take bookings, and again when they expire. The day before, you receive the driver's name, phone number and vehicle.
Can I book the return from Zagreb main bus station to the airport?
Yes. Add the return when you book, or book it on its own later, also at a fixed price. For pick-ups away from the airport the driver waits 15 minutes free from the booked time.
When do I pay?
When you book, or — on many transfers — later: you book without paying, your card is stored securely with Stripe and charged 48 hours before pick-up. You are told the exact amount and date when you book.
