The journey
The centre is around the Château des ducs de Bretagne and the Bouffay quarter, whose medieval streets are pedestrian. The Île de Nantes, with the Machines de l'île, is a separate drop-off across an arm of the Loire.
Arriving at Nantes Airport
Nantes Atlantique is south-west of Nantes, at Bouguenais, on the south side of the Loire. The terminal is compact, and the driver waits in the arrivals hall after baggage reclaim, with your name on a sign.
- The airport is south of the Loire, so any destination north of the river means a bridge crossing — traffic decides the time.
- For the coast, give the resort name: La Baule, Pornichet and Le Pouliguen run into each other.
