- One suitcase and one bag per passenger. More than that, tell us when you book.
The journey
The Port Tunnel exits almost at the Docklands, which makes this one of the quickest runs from the airport. Most of the hotels around Grand Canal Dock and the Point have their own set-down. If you are heading to an office rather than a hotel, give the building name — the streets here changed names twice in twenty years and the numbers do not run in order.
Arriving at Dublin Airport
Dublin Airport is ten kilometres north of the city and has two terminals about four minutes' walk apart. T1 handles Ryanair, Aer Lingus regional and most European carriers; T2 handles Aer Lingus long-haul, transatlantic flights and the US preclearance departures. Both have their own arrivals hall, and they are not interchangeable — your driver needs to know which one. The meeting point is the arrivals hall after baggage reclaim, where your driver waits with your name.
- Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are separate buildings. Tell us which one you land at — a driver waiting in the wrong hall is twenty minutes lost for both of you.
- The M50 tolls electronically between junctions 6 and 7. The toll is included in your fare; you will not be asked for anything.
- US preclearance departures need three hours, not two. If your transfer is taking you to a flight to the States, book it earlier than you think.
- Immigration for non-EU arrivals can take an hour at peak times. Your driver tracks the flight and waits.
How long it really takes
Maps says 28 minutes. That is the driving. Door to door from the moment you land is a different number, and it is the one worth planning around.
Realistically, 58 to 103 minutes after landing. If someone is waiting for you, that is the number to give them.
When to book
Booking early costs the same as booking late — the price does not move. What moves is whether there is a car left.
Cancellation is free until 24 hours before, so booking early costs you nothing if the plan changes.
