The municipal pier in the town centre is used by the passenger ferries to Playa del Carmen.

Arriving at Cozumel Airport

Cozumel International Airport serves the island of Cozumel and its town, San Miguel de Cozumel. After customs, your driver meets you in the arrivals hall with your name.

• Give your hotel name when you book, so the driver takes the right coast road.
• If you are carrying on to the mainland, the passenger ferries to Playa del Carmen leave from the municipal pier in town.

How long it really takes

Maps says 11 minutes. That is the driving. Door to door from the moment you land is a different number, and it is the one worth planning around.

Realistically, 41 to 86 minutes after landing. If someone is waiting for you, that is the number to give them.

When to book

Booking early costs the same as booking late — the price does not move. What moves is whether there is a car left.

Cancellation is free until 24 hours before, so booking early costs you nothing if the plan changes.

How much luggage can I take?

One suitcase and one piece of hand luggage per passenger is included. Skis or a snowboard, a golf bag, a surfboard or a bicycle: add them when you book, so a vehicle with room for them is sent (there is a small charge, shown before you pay). An unusual number of ordinary bags: tell us in the notes.

Can I get a child seat?

Yes. Choose it when you book: infant seat (0–12 months), child seat (1–4 years) or booster seat (4–12 years). There is a small charge per seat, shown before you pay. Where the law requires a child seat, travelling without one is not possible.

Who will drive me?

A licensed local transport company that works with Airportlink. We check its operating licence and insurance before it can take bookings, and again when they expire. The day before, you receive the driver's name, phone number and vehicle.

Can I book the return from Ferry pier (to Playa del Carmen) to the airport?

Yes. Add the return when you book, or book it on its own later, also at a fixed price. For pick-ups away from the airport the driver waits 15 minutes free from the booked time.

When do I pay?
