The journey

Kolašin is the mountain town north of Podgorica, used as a base for skiing and summer hiking. The motorway from Smokovac to Mateševo, which has a toll, covers most of the way; it replaced the slow road through the Morača canyon.

Arriving at Podgorica Airport

Podgorica Airport is on the Zeta plain at Golubovci, south of the capital and north of Lake Skadar. It has a single passenger terminal, opened in 2006, with two baggage belts. After passport control and baggage reclaim you come out into the arrivals hall. Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with your name.

• The terminal is small and gets very crowded in summer, when queues at passport control can be slow. The driver tracks your flight and waits.
• For Bar and Ulcinj the road goes through the Sozina tunnel under the mountains, which has a toll; for Budva it goes over the hills via Cetinje.
• Going north to Kolašin, the first stretch of motorway, opened in 2022, avoids the old winding road through the Morača canyon.

How long it really takes

Maps says 63 minutes. That is the driving. Door to door from the moment you land is a different number, and it is the one worth planning around.

Realistically, 93 to 138 minutes after landing. If someone is waiting for you, that is the number to give them.

When to book

Booking early costs the same as booking late — the price does not move. What moves is whether there is a car left.

Cancellation is free until 24 hours before, so booking early costs you nothing if the plan changes.

How much luggage can I take?

One suitcase and one piece of hand luggage per passenger is included. Skis or a snowboard, a golf bag, a surfboard or a bicycle: add them when you book, so a vehicle with room for them is sent (there is a small charge, shown before you pay). An unusual number of ordinary bags: tell us in the notes.

Can I get a child seat?

Yes. Choose it when you book: infant seat (0–12 months), child seat (1–4 years) or booster seat (4–12 years). There is a small charge per seat, shown before you pay. Where the law requires a child seat, travelling without one is not possible.

Who will drive me?

A licensed local transport company that works with Airportlink. We check its operating licence and insurance before it can take bookings, and again when they expire. The day before, you receive the driver's name, phone number and vehicle.

Can I book the return from Kolašin to the airport?

Yes. Add the return when you book, or book it on its own later, also at a fixed price. For pick-ups away from the airport the driver waits 15 minutes free from the booked time.

When do I pay?
