Esteves is a small island in Lake Titicaca near Puno, home to the Libertador Lake Titicaca hotel.

Arriving at Juliaca Airport

Inca Manco Cápac is the airport for Juliaca, Puno and Lake Titicaca, at 3,826 m above sea level. Your driver meets you as you come out of arrivals, with your name.

• Juliaca and Puno are higher than Cusco. Take the first day slowly, especially if you have flown in from Lima.
• Some Puno hotels are outside the town centre, such as the Libertador on Isla Esteves. Give us the hotel name, not just 'Puno'.

Maps says 73 minutes. That is the driving. Door to door from the moment you land is a different number, and it is the one worth planning around.

Realistically, 103 to 148 minutes after landing. If someone is waiting for you, that is the number to give them.

When to book

Booking early costs the same as booking late — the price does not move. What moves is whether there is a car left.

How much luggage can I take?

One suitcase and one piece of hand luggage per passenger is included. Skis or a snowboard, a golf bag, a surfboard or a bicycle: add them when you book, so a vehicle with room for them is sent (there is a small charge, shown before you pay). An unusual number of ordinary bags: tell us in the notes.

Can I get a child seat?

Yes. Choose it when you book: infant seat (0–12 months), child seat (1–4 years) or booster seat (4–12 years). There is a small charge per seat, shown before you pay. Where the law requires a child seat, travelling without one is not possible.

Who will drive me?

A licensed local transport company that works with Airportlink. We check its operating licence and insurance before it can take bookings, and again when they expire. The day before, you receive the driver's name, phone number and vehicle.

Can I book the return from Isla Esteves to the airport?

Yes. Add the return when you book, or book it on its own later, also at a fixed price. For pick-ups away from the airport the driver waits 15 minutes free from the booked time.

When do I pay?

When you book, or — on many transfers — later: you book without paying, your card is stored securely with Stripe and charged 48 hours before pick-up. You are told the exact amount and date when you book.
