The journey

Motorway almost all the way: the A3 south to the Mihai Viteazu junction, then the A10 towards Sebeș and Alba Iulia. Most visitors head for the Alba Carolina citadel, so give the driver the hotel name rather than just the town.

Arriving at Cluj Airport

Cluj Airport is in the Someșeni area on the eastern side of Cluj-Napoca, on Traian Vuia Street. Arrivals and departures are in two separate halls, joined by a connecting building, and the airport was extended with extra gates in 2024. Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with your name on a sign.

• Arrivals and departures are different halls. If you are told to meet at the terminal, it is the arrivals hall.
• The airport is on the eastern edge of Cluj and the centre is on the far side of a busy city, so traffic decides the time. The price is fixed, so it changes the time, not what you pay.
• Trolleybuses and an express bus link the airport with Mihai Viteazul Square and the railway station if you are travelling light.

How long it really takes

Maps says 76 minutes. That is the driving. Door to door from the moment you land is a different number, and it is the one worth planning around.

Realistically, 106 to 151 minutes after landing. If someone is waiting for you, that is the number to give them.

When to book

Booking early costs the same as booking late — the price does not move. What moves is whether there is a car left.

Cancellation is free until 24 hours before, so booking early costs you nothing if the plan changes.

How much luggage can I take?

One suitcase and one piece of hand luggage per passenger is included. Skis or a snowboard, a golf bag, a surfboard or a bicycle: add them when you book, so a vehicle with room for them is sent (there is a small charge, shown before you pay). An unusual number of ordinary bags: tell us in the notes.

Can I get a child seat?

Yes. Choose it when you book: infant seat (0–12 months), child seat (1–4 years) or booster seat (4–12 years). There is a small charge per seat, shown before you pay. Where the law requires a child seat, travelling without one is not possible.

Who will drive me?

A licensed local transport company that works with Airportlink. We check its operating licence and insurance before it can take bookings, and again when they expire. The day before, you receive the driver's name, phone number and vehicle.

Can I book the return from Alba Iulia to the airport?

Yes. Add the return when you book, or book it on its own later, also at a fixed price. For pick-ups away from the airport the driver waits 15 minutes free from the booked time.

When do I pay?

When you book, or — on many transfers — later: you book without paying, your card is stored securely with Stripe and charged 48 hours before pick-up. You are told the exact amount and date when you book.
