The journey

Stena Line has two terminals in Gothenburg, one for the ferries to Frederikshavn and one for Kiel. Tell the driver your destination port and sailing time so they take you to the right one.

Arriving at Gothenburg Landvetter Airport

Landvetter is east of Gothenburg, on road 40 between Gothenburg and Borås, and is western Sweden's international airport. Only drivers with a pre-booked car are allowed into the arrivals hall to meet passengers. Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with your name.

• Only pre-booked drivers are allowed to meet passengers inside the arrivals hall; drivers who approach you inside the terminal without a booking are not working with the airport.
• The airport sits between Gothenburg and Borås and serves both, so say which city your hotel is in.
• Airport coaches for Gothenburg, Borås and beyond leave from numbered stops; your driver will be inside, in the arrivals hall.

How long it really takes

Maps says 27 minutes. That is the driving. Door to door from the moment you land is a different number, and it is the one worth planning around.

Realistically, 57 to 102 minutes after landing. If someone is waiting for you, that is the number to give them.

When to book

Booking early costs the same as booking late — the price does not move. What moves is whether there is a car left.

Cancellation is free until 24 hours before, so booking early costs you nothing if the plan changes.

How much luggage can I take?

One suitcase and one piece of hand luggage per passenger is included. Skis or a snowboard, a golf bag, a surfboard or a bicycle: add them when you book, so a vehicle with room for them is sent (there is a small charge, shown before you pay). An unusual number of ordinary bags: tell us in the notes.

Can I get a child seat?

Yes. Choose it when you book: infant seat (0–12 months), child seat (1–4 years) or booster seat (4–12 years). There is a small charge per seat, shown before you pay. Where the law requires a child seat, travelling without one is not possible.

Who will drive me?

A licensed local transport company that works with Airportlink. We check its operating licence and insurance before it can take bookings, and again when they expire. The day before, you receive the driver's name, phone number and vehicle.

Can I book the return from Stena Line ferry terminals to the airport?

Yes. Add the return when you book, or book it on its own later, also at a fixed price. For pick-ups away from the airport the driver waits 15 minutes free from the booked time.

When do I pay?

When you book, or — on many transfers — later: you book without paying, your card is stored securely with Stripe and charged 48 hours before pick-up. You are told the exact amount and date when you book.
