Before you land
The airport
Salzburg Airport is on the western edge of the city, close to the German border, with its own junction on the motorway. Terminal 1 handles the year-round flights; Terminal 2 was built for the heavy charter traffic on winter Saturdays and is used as an event venue the rest of the year. The airport is small, and the taxi rank and the stops for ski buses and shuttles are directly in front of the terminals. Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with your name.
- On winter Saturdays the airport is at its busiest, with ski charters arriving from northern Europe; expect queues at passport control and allow for traffic on the roads to the resorts.
- Winter tyres are compulsory in Austria from 1 November to 15 April in wintry conditions, and some mountain roads need snow chains. We send cars equipped for the season.
- For Zell am See, Saalbach and Kitzbühel the shortest road from Salzburg crosses a short stretch of Germany via Bad Reichenhall towards Lofer. The other way is the A10 motorway through the Pongau, and the driver picks the faster one on the day.

How much luggage can I take?
One suitcase and one piece of hand luggage per passenger is included. Skis or a snowboard, a golf bag, a surfboard or a bicycle: add them when you book, so a vehicle with room for them is sent (there is a small charge, shown before you pay). An unusual number of ordinary bags: tell us in the notes.
Can I get a child seat?
Yes. Choose it when you book: infant seat (0–12 months), child seat (1–4 years) or booster seat (4–12 years). There is a small charge per seat, shown before you pay. Where the law requires a child seat, travelling without one is not possible.
Can I cancel?
Free up to 24 hours before pick-up, refunded in full. On many routes you can also book without paying and we only charge the card 48 hours before you travel.
Who will drive me?
A licensed local transport company that works with Airportlink. We check its operating licence and insurance before it can take bookings, and again when they expire. The day before, you receive the driver's name, phone number and vehicle.
