The journey
Ordinary cars cannot reach Galinhos village: the transfer goes via the BR-406 and the RN-402 to the Pratagil port, where boats make the short crossing. The village has sand streets only.
Arriving at Natal Airport
Natal Airport is not in Natal: it is in São Gonçalo do Amarante, well outside the city, and it replaced the old Augusto Severo airport in 2014. Ponta Negra and the Via Costeira hotels are on the far side of the city, and Pipa is further south still. Your driver meets you at the arrivals exit.
- Ignore unsolicited ride offers at the arrivals exit; your driver will be holding a sign with your name.
- The faster route to the south of the city usually bypasses Natal on the BR-304 rather than going through town, depending on traffic.
How long it really takes
Maps says 137 minutes. That is the driving. Door to door from the moment you land is a different number, and it is the one worth planning around.
Realistically, 167 to 212 minutes after landing. If someone is waiting for you, that is the number to give them.
When to book
Booking early costs the same as booking late — the price does not move. What moves is whether there is a car left.
Cancellation is free until 24 hours before, so booking early costs you nothing if the plan changes.

How much luggage can I take?
One suitcase and one piece of hand luggage per passenger is included. Skis, golf clubs, bicycles or an unusual number of bags: tell us in the notes when you book, so a vehicle with room for them is sent.
Can I get a child seat?
Tell us in the booking notes, with the child's age, and we pass it to the driver. Where the law requires a child seat, travelling without one is not possible.
Who will drive me?
A licensed local transport company that works with Airportlink. We check its operating licence and insurance before it can take bookings, and again when they expire. The day before, you receive the driver's name, phone number and vehicle.
Can I book the return from Galinhos to the airport?
Yes. Add the return when you book, or book it on its own later, also at a fixed price. For pick-ups away from the airport the driver waits 15 minutes free from the booked time.
When do I pay?
When you book, or — on many transfers — later: you book without paying, your card is stored securely with Stripe and charged 48 hours before pick-up. You are told the exact amount and date when you book.
