What is included

The journey

Eleven kilometres, under twenty minutes. Mestre is the mainland half of Venice — ordinary, cheaper, and ten minutes from the island by train. If your hotel is here, the transfer goes to the door rather than to a square.

Arriving at Venice Marco Polo Airport

Marco Polo is thirteen kilometres from Venice, on the mainland. No car reaches the historic centre — the road ends at Piazzale Roma, and from there it is a boat or a walk. That is not a limitation of the transfer; it is how the city works.

How long it really takes

Maps says 18 minutes. That is the driving. Door to door from the moment you land is a different number, and it is the one worth planning around.

1
Taxi and disembark10–15 min
2
Passport controlNone inside Schengen. 15–45 min from outside it.
3
Baggage reclaim10–25 min with hold luggage
4

5
The drive18 min

Realistically, 48 to 93 minutes after landing. If someone is waiting for you, that is the number to give them.

When to book

Booking early costs the same as booking late — the price does not move. What moves is whether there is a car left.

A week aheadJuly, August, Fridays and Saturdays. The busiest arrivals of the year.
As soon as you have the flightGroups of five or more. Vans and minibuses go first, always.
Two or three daysLanding between 23:00 and 06:00. Fewer drivers are working.
The day before is fineEverything else. The same morning usually works too.

Cancellation is free until 24 hours before, so booking early costs you nothing if the plan changes.

Before you land

The car stops at Piazzale RomaThere is no road into Venice proper. Every land vehicle — taxi, bus, private car — ends at the same square. What matters is how far your hotel is from there, and whether you are carrying bags over bridges.
Water taxi or road transferA water taxi from the airport dock costs €120 to €140 and takes thirty minutes to most of the centre. A road transfer to Piazzale Roma costs a fraction of that. Which is better depends entirely on where you are sleeping.
Mestre, and why people stay thereTen minutes from the airport, on the mainland, with trains into Venice every ten minutes. Rooms cost half. If you are visiting for three days and not two, the sums usually favour it.

FAQ

How long does it take to get from Venice Airport to Mestre?

About 18 minutes for the 11 km, outside peak traffic. Your driver knows the route and follows the flight, so a delayed landing moves the pick-up rather than costing you the transfer.

How much is a transfer from Venice Airport to Mestre?

From €76 for up to four passengers, and €99 for a group of five to eight in a van. The price is fixed when you book — tolls and taxes included, nothing added at the end.

What happens if my flight is late?

We track the flight number you give us. The driver waits and adjusts to the actual landing time, with 60 minutes of free waiting after the plane touches down.

Where do I meet the driver at Venice Airport?

In the arrivals hall after you clear customs. The day before your trip we send you the driver's name, phone number and vehicle, and they contact you with the exact spot.

Can I cancel?

Free up to 24 hours before pick-up, refunded in full and automatically. On many routes you can also book without paying and we only charge the card 48 hours before you travel.
