The journey

Arriving at Edinburgh Airport
Edinburgh Airport is a single terminal eight miles west of the city, close to the M8 and M9. It is the busiest airport in Scotland and the starting point for most visits to the Highlands, to St Andrews and to the whisky country north of the Forth.
- The city centre is twenty-five minutes away, but during the Festival in August the last stretch through the West End can double that.
- Old Town streets are narrow, steep and often closed to traffic. Give the hotel name and the driver will get as close as the road allows.
- For the Highlands, leaving straight from the airport saves a wasted afternoon in the city.
