What is included

The journey

Braga is 45 minutes north on the A3. If you are going to Bom Jesus do Monte, that is 6 km outside the city up a hill — worth saying, because the historic centre and the sanctuary are different drop-offs.

Arriving at Porto Airport

Porto Airport is 11 km north of the city in Maia. It is a small, easy airport — arrivals to car is usually under ten minutes. The meeting point is the arrivals hall, straight ahead as you leave baggage reclaim.

How long it really takes

Maps says 45 minutes. That is the driving. Door to door from the moment you land is a different number, and it is the one worth planning around.

1
Taxi and disembark10–15 min
2
Passport controlNone inside Schengen. 15–45 min from outside it.
3
Baggage reclaim10–25 min with hold luggage
4

5
The drive45 min

Realistically, 75 to 120 minutes after landing. If someone is waiting for you, that is the number to give them.

When to book

Booking early costs the same as booking late — the price does not move. What moves is whether there is a car left.

A week aheadJuly, August, Fridays and Saturdays. The busiest arrivals of the year.
As soon as you have the flightGroups of five or more. Vans and minibuses go first, always.
Two or three daysLanding between 23:00 and 06:00. Fewer drivers are working.
The day before is fineEverything else. The same morning usually works too.

Cancellation is free until 24 hours before, so booking early costs you nothing if the plan changes.

Before you land

One terminal, and a fast onePorto is small and efficient. Twenty minutes from landing to car is normal, against forty in Lisbon. Your driver meets you in the arrivals hall, straight ahead from baggage reclaim.
No tolls on the way into PortoThe VCI into the city is toll-free. Going to Braga or the Douro means motorway tolls, and those are inside your fixed price.
Portuguese TVDE and taxi licensingEvery driver holds a TVDE or taxi licence issued by IMT. Licence and insurance are checked before a company takes its first ride.
The Ribeira is steeper than it looksIf your hotel is down by the river, the last streets are narrow and often pedestrian. The driver gets as close as the car allows, usually a two-minute walk.

FAQ

How long does it take to get from Porto Airport to Braga?

About 45 minutes for the 55 km, outside peak traffic. Your driver knows the route and follows the flight, so a delayed landing moves the pick-up rather than costing you the transfer.

How much is a transfer from Porto Airport to Braga?

From €84 for up to four passengers, and €143 for a group of five to eight in a van. The price is fixed when you book — tolls and taxes included, nothing added at the end.

What happens if my flight is late?

In the arrivals hall after you clear customs. The day before your trip we send you the driver's name, phone number and vehicle, and they contact you with the exact spot.
