The journey
A quarter of an hour east along the coast. Málaga's historic centre is largely pedestrian, so drivers set down at the nearest accessible point — usually Alameda Principal or the cathedral side. Give the street name if your hotel is inside the old town.
Arriving at Málaga Airport
Málaga is the gateway to the Costa del Sol, and most arrivals are not going to Málaga itself. Everything west — Torremolinos, Fuengirola, Marbella — runs along the A-7 and the AP-7 toll road. The terminal is single and modern, with arrivals on one level.

How long it really takes
Maps says 15 minutes. That is the driving. Door to door from the moment you land is a different number, and it is the one worth planning around.
Realistically, 45 to 90 minutes after landing. If someone is waiting for you, that is the number to give them.
When to book
Booking early costs the same as booking late — the price does not move. What moves is whether there is a car left.
