Before you land
Four terminals, and the shuttle between themT4 opened in 2006 and sits apart from the older T1–T3 block. A free shuttle links them every five minutes, but with luggage it adds twenty minutes. Your driver goes to the terminal you tell us, so the arrivals hall you name matters more here than at most airports.
The M-30 at rush hourBetween 07:30 and 09:30, and again from 18:00 to 20:00, the ring road adds twenty to thirty minutes to almost any journey into the centre. Our price is fixed either way — the meter of a taxi is not.
Spanish VTC licensingEvery driver holds a VTC licence issued by the regional authority. We check the licence and the insurance before a company takes its first ride.
Toledo, Segovia and the day tripsMadrid is the base for two of Spain's best day trips. Toledo is ninety kilometres south, Segovia a similar distance north — both comfortable as a private transfer with a fixed price, and both awkward by public transport with luggage.
The airport
Madrid–Barajas has four terminals spread over several kilometres, and T4 sits far enough from T1–T3 that a shuttle bus runs between them. Tell us your terminal when you book and the driver meets you at the right one. Most arrivals head into the centre on the A-2, about twenty minutes outside rush hour.
- T4 and T4S handle Iberia and most Oneworld flights. T1, T2 and T3 are a 10-minute shuttle away — the wrong terminal costs you half an hour.
- The metro charges a €3 airport supplement on top of the normal fare, which surprises most first-time visitors.
