The journey
The closest town to the airport, twenty minutes west on the M4. Slough is a common stop for business visitors and for anyone continuing to Windsor or Eton, which sit just beyond it. A short transfer, and the one where arriving by taxi queue costs more in waiting than in driving.
Arriving at Heathrow Airport
Heathrow is the busiest airport in Europe and has four terminals spread over a large site, connected by free transfers that still take time. Terminals 2 and 3 sit together in the middle; Terminal 4 and Terminal 5 are several minutes away by train or road. The terminal is what decides where your driver meets you, so it matters more here than almost anywhere else.
- Give your terminal when you book. A driver waiting at Terminal 5 cannot reach Terminal 3 quickly, and the free inter-terminal train adds fifteen minutes.
- The M4 and M25 around Heathrow are slow between 07:00 and 09:30 and again from 16:00. A journey that takes forty minutes at noon can take ninety at six in the evening.
- Heathrow charges every vehicle that stops at the terminal a drop-off fee. It is included in our price, and it is worth checking whether a quote you compare includes it.
